CWRS, CDC Titanium

July 23, 2015. This year’s cereal crops are looking good in spite of the lack of rain and for many growers the fungicide question still remains. Even with the hot, dry weather, CPS crop experts are reporting some leaf disease in the field. CPS Regional Account Manager for North Central Saskatchewan, Amanda McArthur, says CPS retails have a team of experts working hard to help growers with staging and assessing, using observations and the proper assessment guide for Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) to give recommendations on whether to spray a fungicide as well as ideal application timing.

“In the Proven Performance Trials, I have noticed less leaf disease in the new Proven Seed CWRS variety, CDC Titanium, versus the competitor’s,” says McArthur. “Titanium is also ahead of the competition in maturity.”

McArthur notes that growers have commented on the midge resistance and the strong disease package with Titanium and that “with an MR rating to FHB, Titanium has a lower risk to downgrading than all other midge tolerant varieties.”
